CREDIT EUROPE BANK N.V. FORFAITING ACTIVITIES:

Credit Europe Bank N.V. has started its forfaiting business in 1997 and is today one of the major players in the international forfaiting arena. As an indication of our early commitment to this niche field of banking we were one of the first to join the International Forfaiting Association (www.forfaiters.org).
 
Global Forfaiting and EM Loan Trading trades a wide range of instruments, such as syndicated loans, promissory notes, bills of exchange, letters of credit, Islamic finance agreements and silent-risk confirmations. Department had a total size of trading of € 410 million during 2008.

Our forfaiting volume fell to EUR 411 million in 2008; with 57 different counter-parties. This figure is a decrease from EUR 739 million in the year 2007, mainly stemming from the credit crunch that hit the markets in the second half of 2008. On the other hand, 2008 was a year in which the risk margins increased substantially enabling us to maintain our profitability at the level of previous years.

Having started the year 2009 with a positive sentiment we are fully committed to primary and secondary market activities in our core regions such as Turkey, Russia, China, North Africa and the Gulf.
